Where To Find Training

  • Regional Skills for Care offices will often have a list of training providers they can direct you to (but they will be unable to make recommendations). They will also have information about sources of funding. To go to the Skills for Care website click here.

  • Speak to your local council - you may find that some areas offer free training. To find your local council click here.

  • Your local college may deliver 'short courses' (1 or half day courses).

  • Find out if there is a 'training provider network' in your area.

  • Look at the learning and skills council (LSC) lists. You can find the UK register of training providers by clicking here.

  • Look up local training providers on the internet or in the yellow pages. Most have their own website. This will explain who they are and what they do.

  • Use this website! Remember -  many of the training providers on these pages have been recommended by other people who employ PAs. If you have used a training provider and have been happy with the training please send their details to us and we will be able to add them to this website's database. Click here to contact us.

  • Talk to other people who employ PAs and find out who they use. You can join the PA Net network (free of charge) and speak to other PA users through the E-forum. Go to www.panet.org.uk to join or click here.

  • Look at inspection reports from Ofsted for private sector providers. To go to the Ofsted website click here

  • Contact your local Chamber of Commerce who may deliver Basic Food Hygiene, Health and Safety or First Aid courses.
