Once you have employed your Personal Assistant you need to think about the training they require to work with you. Training can be delivered in several ways including training designed and delivered by yourself.
Through the Picking your Pathways project, we held consultations attended by PAs, PA Users and family carers across England to identify the good training currently available for the training of the PAs. In addition we asked PAs, PA Users and family carers to complete in depth questionnaires.
The aim of this website is to inform and signpost people who are looking for PA training of the various options available to them. The website also aims to support people in producing a training plan for the training and development of their PAs.
We are continually updating the database of training providers and the training they offer. In some cases it maybe that you want 'bespoke' training for your PA or there may be a group of PA employers wanting to arrange training which will reduce the costs. The database gives contact details so that you can contact the trainer directly to discuss where and when the training is being delivered and of course the cost of the training.
The Picking your Pathways consultations were delivered by PA Net through ARC (Association for Real Change) and ILA (Independent Living Alternatives).
